Our container terminals handled an average of 10,437 TEUs per day, down from 11,150 TEUs the week before. It is anticipated that an increased average of around 11,610 TEUs (almost 4%) will be handled over the next week. Port operations were mostly characterized by bad weather, empty berths, and equipment issues. Due to equipment issues and unfavorable weather, the Port of Cape Town had to concede more than 20 operational hours this week. This prevented Durban from operating at its best. At our Eastern Cape Ports, bad weather, empty berths, and large swells guaranteed operational difficulties; at the Port of Richards Bay, marine equipment issues turned out to be the primary operational barrier. According to the most recent TFR data, there were some delays this week on the ConCor line between Johannesburg and Durban due to locomotive problems. Furthermore, the ConCor’s yearly maintenance is set to start on Tuesday, November 18. Additionally, following last week’s line blockages, trains on the route between City Deep and Mafikeng began to move swiftly this week. The majority of our main South African terminals can be found in the most recent Southern Africa terminal and service update for week 46. At CTCT, CTMPT, PECT, NCT, and DCT Pier 2, no waiting periods were noted. However, the bad weather that occurred over the weekend and the unfavorable weather that is predicted for next week will probably have an impact on the situation at CTCT.
