Dear Valued Client

We would hereby kindly like to inform you that the Egyptian Ministry of Finance has issued a new Decree (nr. 38) relating to Advance Cargo Information Declaration (ACID).

The ACID system has been implemented with the aim to make available to the Egyptian Customs the shipments detail within 48 hours of cargo arrival.

All Egyptian importers have been notified that starting from 1st of July 2021 they will not be able to import cargo without following this new process.

  1. Importers must register on the online government portal www.nafeza.gov.eg and obtain authorization.
  2. Importers will submit cargo data (shipper, cargo description, HS code, importer full data) to the system in order to receive ACID code.
  3. ACID code has then to be reported on all documents covering the shipment:
    • Commercial documents (invoice, packing list, Eur1 certificate, etc)
    • Transport documents (BL / AWB)

In case of missing, wrong or not matching ACID code, the goods will not be cleared with the risk to be sent back to origin.

The trial phase will start on the 1st of April, 2021: the mandatory operation phase will be effective from the 1st of July 2021.

Please, note the operational procedure is still to be tested and therefore we do not exclude changes and/or reviews.

Kind regards,

Desiré Gourdain
