We would like to bring to your attention an important update regarding SARS’ increased monitoring of Dutiable and Non-Dutiable Charges on import declarations.

Recently, we have observed a rise in the number of queries raised by SARS concerning these charges, particularly regarding freight charges. SARS is now requesting additional supporting documentation, such as freight statements or invoices from shipping lines, to verify the accuracy of declared freight amounts.

To ensure compliance and minimize clearance delays, we advise all importers to review their declarations carefully and ensure that all required supporting documents are readily available.

For further details on the standard set of supporting documents required, please refer to page 12 of the SARS Goods Declaration External Policy (SC-CF-55).
