We, as Savino Del Bene, would like to inform you about an important update regarding the validation of VAT numbers on customs clearance declarations. SARS (South African Revenue Service) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of integrity while providing excellent service to their esteemed clients.

Starting from the evening of 14 July 2023, an extended validation period for VAT numbers in Customs Declarations will be implemented. This process has undergone thorough testing in the test environment to ensure a smooth transition.

To ensure compliance, SARS kindly requests all VAT-registered entities to accurately populate their VAT registration numbers on customs declarations. This practice will prevent any clearance declaration rejections and ensure the timely processing of VAT refund claims.

In the coming days, SARS will closely monitor the VAT numbers declared on customs declarations. If any discrepancies or inaccuracies are identified, they will promptly communicate with the relevant parties and provide guidance on how to rectify the situation.

Savino Del Bene greatly values our partnership with you and remain committed to supporting your compliance efforts.

If you have any questions or require further information, our dedicated team is here to assist you.
