PUBLISHER: Supply Chain Dive (www.supplychaindive.com)
Five years ago, Zika was haunting supply chain managers. It was an emerging disease, and a threat to the world. China had just announced it would not accept any imports unless they were certified mosquito-free.
I remember clearly because Aug. 15, 2016, was the day we launched Supply Chain Dive (here’s our first newsletter). Looking back, it’s eerie to see what has changed — and what hasn’t — since 2016.
Even back then, diseases were threatening supply chains, carrier consolidation was the norm, sourcing strategies were shifting and last-mile fulfillment was a challenge. Because of that, the need for news and insight has only grown.
